Vickery Place, filled with backyard barbecues, morning walks under our canopy of trees, and, of course, plenty of reasons to come together as a community. July Yard of the Month

Congratulations to our neighbors, Kim, Turner and Andrew of 5507 Vickery Ave., Vickery Place’s July Yard of the Month winners!

The young family have called Vickery Place home since June 2024 after living in the M Streets area and East Dallas for a number of years. Since arriving, they have embraced everything about the amazing location of our neighborhood—they enjoy the walkability, friendly neighbors, and the ability to visit so many of their favorite restaurants just steps from home.

At 5507 Vickery, the landscaping in the front is truly eye catching and beautiful. But the gorgeous oasis retreat in the backyard is a stunning surprise to behold, reflecting beauty and character in every corner. Working with their trusted landscaper, Flavio, the family has created beautiful outdoor spaces filled with hydrangeas, hibiscus, Mexican feather grass,Lantana, tea roses, and jasmine-covered trellises. Magnolia trees add height and structure throughout the property, while majestic spruce trees along the back fence line provide a striking backdrop. Seasonal annuals bring vibrant color to the garden beds throughout the summer months.

Though a pool was a requirement in their home for Turner, a Northeast native, what they’ve created around the pool is a place for family and friends to gather during the many warm months we have in North Texas.

Congratulations again to Kim, Turner, and Andrew on a well-deserved Yard of the Month recognition.

PET OF THE MONTH

July’s Pet of the Month is George (Georgie), a 6-year-old French Bulldog who has called Vickery Place home for the past three years. He loves neighborhood walks, sunbathing, hopping like a bunny, and zooming around in figure eights. His favorite toy is a plush Christmas wreath, and his favorite treats include blueberries, eggs, chicken, and whipped cream.

George earned his American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title at just six months old and later became part of a Certified Animal-Assisted Counseling team through an academy at Texas State University. He volunteered at an elementary school for a year, where he was featured in the yearbook and received the "Pawtastic Counselor" award. He has even appeared on the cover of a book!

George will receive a $50 gift card to Hollywood Feed for being July’s Pet of the Month.
