Update on Curbside Trash
Paul Ridley's office got back to us about he upcoming changes to garbage pick up in Vickery Place. New Email to voice concerns.
Hey Neighbors,
I wanted to share the response from Paul Ridleys office that came in (after 14 days!) and make sure you had the proper email to let the city know your feelings on this change. At this point in time, the change is SCHEDULED and HAPPENING. If you are opposed to putting your bins on the curb weekly please email:
[email protected]
and CC:
Sanchez, Max [email protected]
Ridley, Paul [email protected]
Davis Maynard, Apryl L [email protected]
Please be sure to email them and let them know how inconvenient this will be for you and your neighbors. From increased traffic, moving cars out of streets every week, increased debris, and the hassle of moving your cans to the curb every week - there are many reason why this change negatively affects everyone in Vickery Place.
Email from Max Sanchez below:
Apologies for my delayed response.
At the time of the March meeting, we were unaware of the Cityβs attempt to bring this item back up for discussion. The shift is an administrative decision and did not come up for Council vote or approval.
Please see the information below:
Is the City actively reconsidering the shift to curbside trash collection in our neighborhood? Yes. On Richard, Willis, Miller, Vickery, Goodwin, Vanderbilt, and Ridgedale. These locations will switch in January. More information is here: https://dallascityhall.com/departments/sanitation/Pages/curbtransition.aspx
If so, what prompted the change in direction, and what opportunities will residents have to provide input? The Sanitation Department highlighted safety, efficiency and cost concerns. Many alleys are too narrow for the trucks to collect without damage. Residents have opportunity to provide input on the Sanitation page linked above reporting an access concern.
What can we, as a community, do to ensure that alley collection remains in place? Our office is sharing all opposition that we receive to the Sanitation Department and encouraging submission through the online form if there is an access issue. Emails copying [email protected] and our office is an idea to advocate for your neighborhood.
Please keep us in the loop and let me know if you would like to discuss further.
Thank you,
Max Sanchez
Chief of Staff, District 14
