March 2020: 5345 Willis Ave

Congratulations to VPNA's March Yard of the Month! The Betts Family of 5435 Willis Avenue! Jesse and Christina moved to Vickery Place in 2015 when they realized it was time to “grow up” and leave Uptown. One year ago, their son Carson joined the family. Although the modern craftsman home on Willis is a new-build, it complements the original character of the neighborhood, has great architectural details inside and out, and features an inviting landscape plan.

For winter, the front yard displayed a monochromatic explosion of white pansies, a cold weather annual favorite, and when multiplied by hundreds stops you in your tracks. The front landscaping beds curve forward towards the perimeter of the property providing inviting and cozy curb appeal.

This summer they expect to utilize their backyard outdoor living space for entertaining--and definitely more kid’s parties now that Carson is getting a little older. The Betts installed synthetic turf surrounding the pool and a row of trees provides a bit more privacy along the fence line. They also plan on reestablishing a pollinator garden for bees and butterflies.
