YARD OF THE MONTH

Yard of the Month - 5508 Vickery Blvd
Bonnie and David moved to Vickery Place in September 2020 after friends on Llano Avenue encouraged them to explore the neighborhood. One visit was all it took—they fell in love with the house, updated the kitchen, and quickly made themselves at home with their dogs, Cassie and Chase.
One of the things they love most about Vickery Place is the sense of community. Their street is filled with neighbors walking dogs, pushing strollers, and stopping to chat. They also appreciate having so much close by, making the neighborhood both welcoming and convenient.
Their beautiful yard is maintained by José Guerra of Complete Yard Work, who has cared for the landscape for more than 15 years. Bonnie’s garden combines color, texture, and practicality, featuring begonias in place of impatiens, colorful caladiums, and an herb garden that supplies fresh ingredients for cooking. A special feature of the property is a majestic pecan tree in the backyard that dates back to 1911, providing both shade and a living connection to the neighborhood’s history.
The result is a yard that feels welcoming, well cared for, and perfectly suited to the home it surrounds. Bonnie and David have embraced both their property and the neighborhood, and we’re delighted to recognize 5508 Vickery Boulevard as Vickery Place’s June 2026 Yard of the Month.
