The May 11th City Council elections are fast approaching!  Because Vickery Place consists of two council districts, we are working with surrounding neighborhoods to host TWO Council Candidate Forums.  These forums allow you to meet and listen to each candidate as they respond to our questions.

City Council District 14 Candidate Forum - Thursday, April 11th, 7 pm at Vickery Towers, 5619 Belmont Avenue.

Because there are SEVEN candidates for this seat, we will operate on a fairly strict timetable to ensure everyone equal time. The format will allow an opening statement and probably a closing wrap-up comment of up to 2 minutes for each candidate to introduce themselves, and a series of no more than 10 questions, posed by the moderator. The moderator will be Bruce Thomas, an attorney and a Vickery Place resident.

Sponsors of the District 14 forum include: Belmont Neighborhood Association, Cochran Heights Neighborhood Association, Dallas Homeowners League, Edgemont Park Conservation District, Greenland Hills Neighborhood Association, Junius Heights Historic District, Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association, Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association, Munger Place Historic District Association, Swiss Avenue Historic District and Vickery Place Neighborhood Association.  A detailed map of these sponsoring neighborhoods can be found in the Resource Center section of this website.

City Council District 2 Candidate Forum - Wednesday, April 17th, 7 pm at Vickery Towers, 5619 Belmont Avenue.

Since we have four candidates for this seat, again in the interest of time, we will operate on a strict timeline. The format will be similar to the previous forum, and Vickery Place resident Bruce Thomas will once again serve as moderator.

Sponsors of the District 2 forum include: Vickery Place NA, Lower Greenville West NA, Henderson NA and the Dallas Homeowners League.

We expect the Q&A portion of each event to run about 90 minutes followed by an opportunity for audience members to meet and greet candidates on a personal level.

Not sure which District you reside in? Please see the map below or visit http://gis.dallascityhall.com/EnterpriseGIS/CouncilStaticMaps.htm.

If you are not already registered to vote, we will be registering new voters the night of the District 14 (April 11th) candidate forums--you will be eligible to vote in the May 11th election.
