The beautiful, tall, canopied trees that line the streets of Vickery Place help make our neighborhood a unique and special place to live. Besides looking pretty, trees improve our air quality, buffer noise, and naturally cool our neighborhood. Did you know that the temperature around a shade tree can feel 15° cooler than in the sun? And don’t forget, leaves can be turned into wonderful compost for your garden.

Unfortunately, over the years Vickery Place has lost many of its trees due to storms, disease, new construction or just old age. VPNA is pleased to announce that there will be a neighborhood Tree Planting on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The trees are made available through the City of Dallas Urban Reforestation Program. Trees provided for planting will be between 2 and 4 inches in caliper at the time of planting and must be planted in the parkway, the grassy area between the street and the sidewalk. Any homeowner in Vickery Place can order up to 2 trees. We are requested a $25 donation per tree to cover the cost of good mulch.

We hope those that have lost trees or have always wanted one will participate in the tree planting. See details and qualification information on the order form. Trees will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.  This neighborhood project will benefit us all for years to come. You can either donate online via credit card (donation button above) or write a check made out to VPNA/memo Tree Planting Donation. Then download the Tree Planting order form, fill it out completely and drop your form [and check if you are donating by that method] to VP resident Ken Dawkins, 5315 Vickery Blvd, by Monday January 22, 2018.  If you have questions, email info@vickeryplace.com.
