Update: House Fire!

The response from Vickery Place and other neighbors has been outstanding and we're just getting started!  Thanks to all who have sponsored the Flores family!  Here's a summary of the sponsorships as of this afternoon as well as suggestions for remaining sponsorship needs:

Cash/Gift Cards Received

Web Site – 10 sponsorships totaling $1790

Checks – 3  sponsorships totaling $275

Gift Card - 1  sponsorship for $25 (Kroger)

Total Cash & Gift Cards $2,090

Notebook computer


Food Stuffs

We’ve received about 10 items, could use more non-perishable items like flour, sugar, beans, soup, cereal, canned meat or fish, peanut butter (Matthews’ food bank listing is a good source for ideas).


Paper products

Paper towel (single roll), paper plates (2 stacks), foil, wax paper.  We could still use bathroom tissue.


Personal Hygiene

Shampoo, soap, razor, shaving cream, men’s lotion, deodorant (2), Q tips, scented body lotion (4).  We could use more shampoo and toothbrushes.



Pillow (1 large, 2 throw), sheet, blanket (1), afghans (2), towels (2), place mats (10).  Still needed: blankets, pillows, towels.



10-piece cutlery set (in wood case), small dinner set, disposable plastic containers.  Still needed: pots/pans, cooking utensils, more dinner set/dishes.



Warm sweaters (5 Cutter Buck!), 1 men’s t-shirt, assorted shoes; Vickery Place T Shirts (5).  Still needed: ladies pants, men’s pants (size 36/38), ladies and men’s sleepwear, gloves & scarves; sports socks.


Special thanks to the staff and students of North Texas High and Claire Oliver for leading a separate (non-VPNA affiliated) drive.  They raised $600 in cash and over $100 in gift cards!
